+ Do you remember the story of our proclamation day ?

-          Yes certainly in the year of nineteen fourty five on the seventeen of August.

+ by whome was our proclamation proclaimed ?

-          Presedent Soekarno and Vice Preseden Hatta proclaimed the independence of Indonesia

to the whole world on Friday morning at ten a.m.

+ Who were Mr. Soekarno and Mr. Hatta ?

-          Mr. Soekarno was ex. Presedent Republic of Indonesia and Mr. Hatta was his vice.

+ Are they still alive now ?

-          Mr. Soekarno and Mr. Hatta have already passed away.

+ Were they relation ?

-          No, they weren’t.

+ And when was it at the time the proclamation was proclaimed ?

-          It was at the time of Japanese capitulation.

+ How was the news of the world ?

-          The news of the world was that the world was stirred because of the proclamation.

+ And how was the world people mostly ?

-          Most people in the world, particularly in Europe and America, didn’t know what Indonesia

was and where it was.

+  And what did they do ?

-          They hurriedly took a map to find out Indonesia.

+ Could they find it ?

-          But they couldn’t find it ?

+ Why not ?

-          Because the name of Indonesia was covered by the colonialism and changed its beautiful name

into Nederland East India.

+ How did the newspaper of that day declare it ?

-          The newspaper of that day declared that Indonesia was a country that had been robbed and

Colonized by the Dutch for more then 350 years.

+ When had we become a free nation again ?

-          Since that proclamation, we had become a free nation again sit and stand equal with all the

free people in the world.

+ And what must we do from that time ?

-          From that time, we must work hard to defend our freedom.

+ how must every of us assume responsibility for it ?

-          Every of us swears not to let even an inch of our land be colonized again.

+ What must we persuade to our young men and young ladies ?

-           our young men and young ladies must be persuade to add their knowledge for progress of

Indonesia our mother land.

+ And what would it be if we were all conscious ?

-          If we were conscious, within short time we’ll soon be able to be aqual with all the free people

in the world.

+ What is the way we’ll soon be well known in the world ?

-          So, young ladies and young men roll up their sleeves and learn hard to add their knowledge.

We’ll soon be well known in the world.

+ I can’t understand why my tongue is still very heavy to speak English ?

-          How long time have you studied your English ?

+ I have studied it quite long already. I have learn the words by heart, but in speaking I am

   always hesitating. Why is it ?

-          It is impossible if you have really learned the words by heart. I am sure that you must

be able to speak very well.

+ Why is it so ?

-          Yes, it is so because it all depends on the learning of the world.

+ One thing that I can’t understand that when speaking at home or with you now, you can hear

   that I can speak English very well. How do you think ?

-          Not so bad. But you must practice it some more and speaking oftenly in English.

+ Yes, but I always mind of the wrong in speaking, you see ?

-          Well, you musn’t mind of the wrong so long as the people can understand your meaning

that is alright.

+ I have already ended my first aducation of English study, you see ? And now, I am continuing it

   at the advance degree.

-          How is it now in your class, do you speak Indonesian ?

+ No, we are not allowed to speak Indonesian.

-          Why and how do we have to speak then ?

+ Yes, If anybody asks the teacher in Indonesian the teacher only pretend not to hear him. The

   Teacher means that all students must practice their English.

-          That is a good idea. Do you learn every day now ?

+ We learn only trice in a week, you see ? But the lesson is quite heavy. If we don’t pay attention

   To the explanations of the teacher we can’t follow the lesson.

-          Do you learn the double and multiple sentence in the class ?

+ Of course, that is the very lesson we are learning now.        

-          What do you learn beside it ?

+ Besides, we also learn the use of anlargemet, parsing, and analysis.

-          And books do you use for conversation ?

+ We use books written by Nesfild and sme other authors. And you ? Have you been learning

    The English ?

-          Well, I finished my first aducation only within three months because my teacher is specialist,

you see ? And now I am in the advance aducation.

+ I wonder, if you learn it in such a short time and you can already speak English quite fluently now.

   And who is your teacher ?

-          Well, my teacher is from PQEC and he guarantees his pupils to be able to speak English within

short time. Have you ever heard about it ?

+ Yes, but it is a pity. I live far away from the place, but I wish to try it. will you mind taking me enter

   PQEC ?

-          Well, alright then, I won’t mind. I am always ready.

+ Thank you very much for your kind hearted.

A Dilegent Boy

 

+ What time do you wake up in the morning, Mr.Dadang?

-  I used to wake up very early in the morning.

+  why is it ?

-  Yes, it is already my habit to wake up at five in the morning, for I must pay my duty to God. I must pray.

+  That is very nice. We ought, of course, to thank god who has been very kind to us.

    He Lends us ears to hear anything we like, eyes to see everything, mounth, nose, hands,

    feet, etc. To thank God is only to be faithful to his commands.

-  And how do the other people have such idea?

+ Some of the people don’t think of this. You know. After having got many gifts,

    generally they forget to the Giver.

-  What must we do now?            

+ We mush’t care of those unfaithful people. We must do whatwe can enoy God’s rules.

-  And how are those unfaithful people then?

+ Those unfaithful people will regret when they have entered the second world.

-  But do you go straight to school after praying?

+ Certainly not, because it is stiil  very early. I must clean the house and sweep the

   Floor to help my mother. At seven o’clock I take my breakfast, and then I go to school.

-  What do you take in your breakfast? Bread, butter and eggs perhaps, isn’t it?

+ Ibdon’t worry very much for my breakfast, I only take a cup of tea, that’s all. If

   There is rice over I take it, otherwiss, the cup of tea will be alright.

-  Some people can’t stand it. You know, I myself, for instance, can’t stand the hunger,

    if I don’t get anything in the breakfast.

+  You are different. You can’t compare your parent to mine. You are the sun of the man

    of rank and have income every month, but my father is only poor hawker.

-  It is not the question whether that is a small plate of rice. You mush’t think that

    hawkers are inferior to the officials. Many people misunderstand of this by seeing

    that the officials are much superior to them. It is not right.

+  Honest man like you confeses it. But those stupid people often suppose so, foe they

    Think that the government officials are respected.

-  Labours are bound, while merchants are spendent. Labours get their pay only once

-          Seven times four is twenty eight.

+ Very good. Do you also know what sixty three minus nine is ?

-          Yes, sixty three minus nine is fifty four.

+ what is twenty five multiplied by ten ?

-          twenty five multiplied by ten is two hundred and fifty.

+ What is fourty five devided by three ?

-          fourty five devided by three is fifteen.

+ that’s correct. You are a nice boy. Once more, please ! What are ten and three ?

-          Ten and three are thirteen.

+ That’s very good. And what is the ordinal of fourty three ?

-          The ordinal of fourty three is fourty third.

+ Do you say twenty oneth to the ordinal of twenty one ?

-          No. we say twenty first to the ordinal of twenty one.

+ How do you say hundred and one in ordinal number ?

-          We say hundred first.

+ What is the date of our freedom ?

-          It is on the seventeenth of August.

+ In what year was it ? Do you still remember it ?

-          Yes. It was in the year of nineteen forty five.

+ Are you sure of it ?

-          I can not be mistaken of it.

+ Do you commemorate the seventeenth of August every year ?

-          Of course, we can’t forget it until the end of the world.

+ How do the Indonesian people commemorate their freedom anniversary ?

-          One thing that we must not forget is to hoist our red and white. The second we must make

a great meeting in a field and some are holding a reception in which sweet spiritual speeches

are delivered.

+ How is the feeling of the Indonesian people during the anniversary day ?

-          I can’t tell you everything. Some are very glad and some are also weeping.

+ Why are they weeping ? They should be happy all together.

-          Yes. They are quite happy. But, on the contrary, some of them can not avoid their rememberence

from the time of struggling. Everything that they have and some of their brothers have gone to –

the grave for the sake of beloved Indonesia, and yet, as it’s seen many that had been great spy of

NICA and worked hard for NICA to ruin our country become the men of rank and very happy while

we who have been sacrificing all our houses and wealt are as poor and mean as before. The wise word says, “The patriot scatters the seeds and the traiter takes the crops.”

+ We must have patience. It’s happened everywhere in the world. If they can’t get the reward their sac-

   Rifice now, their children or grand children are sure to have them in the coming time. God isn’t blind.

   You must know it and and people can’t blind-fold the honest people for some times and later on the

   Justice will come. I hope it !
