EXERCISE X

+ Must we bacareful to take care of our body   = Haruskah kita menjaga badan kita pad waktu huja?

    in the raining time, why ?                                  mengapa?

-  In the raining tim, we must becareful to take = Waktu hujan kita harus hati-hati menjaga badan kita

   care of our body if we don`t want to be sick.      jika kita tidak mau sakit.

+ Why must we only stay at home in the           = Mengapa kita harus tinggal di rumah pada waktu hujan?

   raining time ?

-  We can go out in the raining time and we     = Kita tidak dapat pergi keluar pada waktu hujan dan kita

   must stay at home.                                              harus tinggal di dalam rumah.

+ If we have an important thing to do outside, = Jika kita punya kepentingan untuk dikerjaka di luar,

   can we do it ?                                                       dapatkah kita lakukan itu?

+ Are there many trishaw in the raining time ? = Banyakkah becak di waktu hujan?

-  The trishaw are also very scarce in the           = Becak-becak juga sangat jarang di waktu hujan

+ Any how he is stupid in the class yet he      = Walaupun ia bodoh dikelasnya, tetapi ia tidak belajar di

+ No, he is not ashamed of his friend.            = Tidak, ia tidak malu oleh temannya.

-  Why are you free today?                              = Mengapa anda bebas hari ini?

+Yes, today i`am free, because it is holiday. = Ya hari ini saya bebas, sebab hari ini libur.

+ Where will you go for a walk?                     = Kemana anda akan berjalan-jalan?

-  I think I will go for a walk to down town      = Saya piker saya akan pergi jalan-jalan ke kota

+ How do you go there?                                  = Naik apa anda pergi kesana?

-  I don`t want to go alone, I will go                = Saya tidak mau pergi sendiri, tapi saya akan bersama-sama

  Together with my friend.                                 teman saya.

+ Can you friend also speak English?             = Dapat jugakah teman anda bercakap bahasa inggris?

-  Yes sure, he can speak English.                    = Ya tentu, ia dapat bercakap bahasa inggris.

+ Where does learn it from?                          = Dimana ia belajar bahasa inggris?

-  He learns English from Al-Muse`s PQEC      = Ia belajar bahasa inggris dari PQEC Al-Musri`.

+ Is he ashamed if he is wrong in speaking    = Malukah ia bila ia bercakap bahasa inggris salah?

   English?

-  Any how he is wrong in speaking English     = Walaupun ia salah dalam bercakap bahasa inggris, tapi ia

  Yet he isn`t ashamed.                                       tidak malu.

+ Why is it so?                                                 = Mengapa begitu?

-  Because he thought that English is.             = Karena iia berpendapat bahwa inggris bukan

+ Where did he go yesterday?                                    = Kemana ia pergi kemarin?

-          He went to the town yesterday.                     = Ia pergi ke kota kemarin.

+ Didn`t you go to the office yesterday?                    = Tidakkah anda pergi ke kantor kemarin?

-          Yes, I didn`t go to office yesterday.                = Ya, saya tidak pergi ke kantor kemarin.

+ Why not?                                                                  = Mengapa tidak?

-          Because it was raining                                                = Karena sedang hujan

+ Why didn`t you go by trishaw?                                = Mengapa anda tidak naik becak

-          Because I had no money.                                = Sebab saya tak punya uang.

+ Didn`t you try to speak with Mr. Ali?                      = Tidakkah bercakap English dengan Pak Ali?

- Yes, because he couldn`t speak English yet.            = Ya, sebab dia belum dapat bercakap bahasa Inggris.

+ Didn`t he learn to speak English in Al-Musri`s PQEC?    = Tidakkah dia belajar bahasa inggris di PQEC Al-Musri`?

- No, he did.                                                                = Tidak, ia belajar.

+ Why didn`t he come to my house yesterday?         = Mengapa ia tidak dating ke rumah saya kemarin?

- Because hewent to Bandung yesterday.                  = Sebab ia pergi ke Bandung kemarin.

+ Couldn`t he come here yesterday?                         = Tidak dapatkah ia tidak dating kemarin?

- Yes, he couldn`t because he had to time.                = ya, ia tidak dapat, sebab tak sempat.

+ What did you buy in the shop?                    = apa yang dibeli di toko?

- I bought a book and a pencil in the shop.    = Saya membeli buku dan pensil di toko.

+ Did you see Mr. Ali on the way?                  = Apakah anda melihat tuan Ali di jalan?

- No, I didn`t.                                                   = Tidak, saya tidak melihat.

+ Could you not come to my house yesterday ? = Dapatkah anda pergi ke rumah saya kemarin ?

- I wasn`t here yesterday, I was in Bandung. = Saya tidak disini kemarin, Saya di Bandung.

+ When did you arrived here?                        = Kapan kau sampai di sini?

- I arrived here yesterday at four o`clock.     = Saya sampai di sini kemarin pukul empat.

+ Did you come by plane or by steamer?       = Apa kau dating naik pesawat atau naik kapal laut?

- I was in hurry, so I come by plane.               = Saya tergesa-gesa, jadi saya naik pesawat.

+ How long did it take from Medan to Jakarta.= Berapa lama itu dari Medan ke Jakarta?

- It took about five hours from Medan to Jakarta.     = Itu kira-kira lima jam dari Medan ke Jakarta.

+ Did you come alone?                                               = Apakah kau dating sendirian?

- No, I come together with Mr. Nur.                          = Tidak, saya dating bersama tuan Nur.

+ Where is he now?                                                    = Dimana ia sekarang?

- He is still in the Hotel.                                              = Dia masih ada di hotel.

+ Why didn`t you you come straight to my house.     = Mengapa kau tak langsung ke rumah saya?

- I was afraid that it would worry you too much.       = Saya takut bahwa itu akan menyusahkan tuan.

+ No, no, and did you spend  your night?                   = Tidak, tidak, lalu dimana kau menginap semalam?

- We were in the hotel, we intended to see you last = Kami menginap di hotel, kami bermaksud bertemu

   night. But unfortunately it was raining. And also we anda tadi malam, tapi tak kebetulan hari hujan dan

- Last time while I was living in Jkt                             = Dulu Ketika saya tinggal di Jkt saya tak dapat

  I couldn’t speak English Because I                            = bercakap Bhs Inggris, sebab belum belajar.

+ How did you suppose that  ?                                    = Bagaimana anda menduga itu?

-  I suppose that it was hopeless for                           = Saya menduga bahwa itu tak ada harapan bagi

   me to understand The English, because                     saya sebab saya adalah orang bodoh.

   I was a stupid man.

+ Didn’t you get advice from your friend ?                = Tidak anda mendapat saran dari temanmu?

-  Some friend advised me to Learn it,                       = Kawan kawan saya menyarankan saya untuk belajar

    But I refused them, because I thought to                  Bhs. Inggris tapi saya menolaknya sebab saya pikir

    Myself that it was impossible for me to                    sendiri bahwa tidak mungkin saya untuk mengerti

    Understand it. Because I had never learned             itu. Sebab saya belum pernah belajar bahasa lain

    Any other language before except my own              sebelumnya kecuali bahasa sendiri.

-  Once I followed my friend to the PQEC                  = Mula2 saya ikut teman saya ke PQEC dan

- For nowdays, our country has been free and its name has been known to all over the world.

+ how is for some years after ?

- For some years after, many people from another country will come here to witness and to see

   the richness and the fertility of our country, Indonesia.

+ All they speak Indonesian, don't they ?

- No. They all speak English.

+ And why is it ?

- Yes because they haven't studied our language yet and they are quite sure that we also understand

  the English. So in our association with them the English will be used.

+ How is it if we don't understand the English ?

- We don't understand the English we don't only make our selves ashamed, but without our knowing

  We have made the name of our country inferior.

+ In that case, what must we do now ?

- Well, we must improve our knowledge and don't forget to learn the English.
