A Sick Friend
+ I heard from
Mr. Tono that you were sick since last three days. What was wrong with you ?
- I was
suffering from Malaria fever. I couldn’t sleepat all the first I had it. I felt
myself very cold and shi-
vered as if I were in the winter time.
+ I didn’t know
it. I was just thinking why you didn’t come to the office. I supposed you made
a trip to Su-
lawesi, for you had ever told me last month
that you would go. Luckily I heard about you from Mr. Tono.
- I haven’t
prepared to go there yet. I sould have gone last week, fortunately I didn’t. if
we were going, -
what would have happened on me if I were sick
on the way ?
+ Yes, it is
very fortunate indeed. By the way, have you consulted the doctor ?
- Yes, I have
two times injection from him and he also gave me prescription for the medicine.
+ What kind of
the medicine did he give you ? Where is it ?
- I have hust sent my man to take
it from the druggist. He hasn’t come yet.
+ Did you vomit
much ? Let me feel your pulse. It is not bad really. But you must keep the
advise of the –
doctor. Don’t sit up ! Just lay down ! Don’t
worry yourself !
- No, nothing. I
have been tired laying
since the morning. I am very glad to see you come to visit me, Mr.
Toni.
+ Don’t mention
it ! How is your appetite now in eating ? But you must keep advise of the
doctor. Do you
wish to have anything ?
- I can’d
understand. I feel everything tasteless. I ask my cook to make some soup which
I thought would
satisfy my appetite in eating. But
unfortunately it was also nonsense.
+ it is always
like that when we are sick. But we must try to persuade ourselves to have
something. Other-
wise, we will be much weaker.
- I wish to have
some oranges, but the doctor forbid it. why is it ?
+ No sweet or
sour thing might be eaten by the man who is suffering from malaria fever, for
that’s the ve-
ry thing the malaria germ like very much. We
will get worse when eating it.
- In that case,
that was perhaps the reason when I shivered more last night after eating two
oranges. I
didn’t know it, you see ?
+ You must do it
again. It is very dangerous. Have you informed Mr. Nurdin of your having fever
?
- No. I forget
to tell him. Will you please him when you meet him ?
+ Alright, I
will message to him as soon as I go home.
- I used to be
afraid to swallow any medicines, but this time I can help it. I closed my eyes
and persuade
my eyes and persuade myself to swallow it.
it was very bitter indeed.
+ you musn’t be
afraid of swallowing any medicine, if you want to be soon well. Otherwise, you
won’t be
better.
- I did it, you
see ? but my hair stood on before swallowing it and yet I swallowed it.
+ That’s why you
are getting better now. I hope I will see you soon in the office.
- I hope so.
thank you. Would you like to drink, Mr. Toni ?
+ Don’t worry
now, Mr. Karim. Excuse me, I have something very important to do. I will be off
for a mo-
ment. I will be back again.
- Alright, Mr.
Toni. Thank you very much for your kind visiting case. Come again if have time
!
+ Certainly, I
will. Don’t you delay to swallow the medicine, do you ?
- No. I will do
my best to eat it. you needn’t be afraid of it.
+ I am glad to
hear it now. Excuse me, I will see you again. So long !
- So long….!
